I think this is currently the most banned book in the US. I am trying to read banned books this summer and I purchased this one digitally. I see that you read it on your e-reader... I was wondering if you think that is as good as the physical book in this case? I usually read physical copies of graphic books/novels. Having said that, I did read Loveless and Heartstopper on my phone and that seemed to work for me.
I have seen these pronouns in HPFF, but I just assumed that it was a made up system for fanfiction purposes, so I am interested to read this book for that aspect as well. Becky Chambers uses a variety of pronouns in The Wayfarer series and I am now wondering if they are from this system?
Thanks for sharing! you have given me things to think about for sure!
I borrowed this book from Hoopla and read it on my iPad (my Kindle is only black and white). I thought it was fine. I read Loveless on my iPad and I split Heartstopper between physical editions and digital editions so that I could read them all together. I have read graphic novels on my Kindle, and I'm not crazy about that--I like to see the color if it's colorized and I just don't feel like the Oasis display does a great job with graphic novels, but there really isn't much of a difference in my opinion between reading a physical copy and reading a digital copy on my iPad (or any other tablet). I also usually read graphic novels in hard copy, but I've noticed that some of them are really thick and have large trim sizes that makes them a little unwieldy to hold, so the iPad is a big improvement on that.
I had seen a different set of gender neutral pronouns on Tumblr, but I also wasn't sure how common they were outside of the online space, but there are a lot of cool options out there, so Becky Chambers may be using these or others. In researching, I found this cool Tumblr page on pronouns that I found really helpful: https://fuckyeahlgbt.tumblr.com/post/2803936853/what-is-a-gender-neutral-pronoun-what-does
